Shopping the marketplace to find cost savings solutions for the school

In an effort to provide a range of options to their staff, WCUI had two medical carriers that they offered to their employees, Anthem and Kaiser.  Anthem gave WCUI a renewal increase of over 40%, because of the large claims against their policies.  WCUI was shopping brokers for solutions and ways to mitigate the cost moving forward.

Benely’s marketplace reach was instrumental in finding a solution for West Coast Ultrasound.  Our strategy was to shop the entire marketplace and find a low cost solution, and also make sure the carrier and plan mix was optimal to not put the school in this position in the future.

Results

Benely was able to procure better benefits and rates through a national carrier, United Healthcare.  This resulted in savings of over $25,000 annually over their renewal increase from Anthem Blue Cross.  Additionally, because of the options we were able to provide, participation also increased within their staff.
